About the Blades
Synchronized skating includes teams of 8-20 skaters performing a program to music while executing intricate maneuvers, formations, steps sequences and freestyle elements. Team levels are determined by age, skill and USFS test level achieved. Each skater is required to attend all ice practices and off-ice training. Hours of practice range per week depend upon team level. Skaters are also expected to maintain their individual ice dance, moves in the field and freestyle training appropriate to their team level. We believe that individual skating and synchronized skating go hand in hand, complimenting each other resulting in a stronger overall figure skater.
The Fond du Lac Blades Synchronized Skating Teams are under the direction of head coach Jennifer McMahon and represent the Fond du Lac Blue Line Figure Skaters which is a member of United States Figure Skating. The Blades welcome skaters from communities all over East and Central Wisconsin including Ashwaubenon, West Bend, Green Bay, Appleton, Kimberly, Waupun, Lomira, Milwaukee, Sheboygan, De Pere and of course Fond du Lac! The Blades practice at the Blue Line Family Ice Center in Fond du Lac and the Oshkosh YMCA in Oshkosh. The Blades compete locally, regionally, nationally and in 2005 and 2006 the Blades Junior Team was part of TEAM USA, competing internationally.
